The 907Diesel community in Alaska is that of a brotherhood, so to speak. The members there try and help others, and show that total strangers exist, and will help in time of need. From volunteering in the community to help out, to stopping by to help a stranded member on the side of the road, this group of individuals proves that the diesel community cares about their communities.
My name is Jeremy May, and this is how I started 907Diesel. I always loved being around and working on cars. When I was younger I thought it would be cool to start some sort of auto cub, and I got my chance in 2012 when I got my first diesel, a 2008 Duramax. I was lost in the diesel world as I had always owned gassers it was all new to me. When I started looking around for advice I noticed that there was no support for Duramax’s in Alaska. There was however a small group of Cummins guys, off of the Cummins Forum that got together and helped each other out. I tried to get some Duramax people together but I couldn’t make it happen; I knew that I had to broaden the search. I decided to start a state wide, open to all diesels, automotive club, this way I could build off the Cummins Forum base. I asked my buddy Bryce Stasney to help me come up with a name and logo, as he was my only good buddy with a diesel at the time and he came up with the first logo. I had made a list of names and he liked 907Diesel, so that is what stuck. He moved out of the state shortly after it got started, but still talks about coming back to a big meet like Prowl For Power.
I knew that in order to grow the club I would have to travel all over the state to hold meets, and spend money to advertise, that there was a diesel club out there. As it grew I saw the potential for what the club could be, everyone in Alaska has a diesel, and the state is massive. I had hoped that there would be a chapter in each part of the state, members would help other members out in any way possible, and give back to the greatest state as much as we could. The club today has four different sections all of which hold meets, gives back to the community, and everyone helps each other off of the Facebook page.
I have since moved to the lower 48 and the club is on their fifth president Mike Anagnostou, some moving away and others resigned because they had grown the club as much as they could, all of them where great assets to 907Diesel. The Admin team exceeds my expectations and set the bar higher and higher on a daily basis. With two statewide events a year Prowl For Power and the Remember the Fallen Poker Run, local clean up days, and pop up charity events. I can see where the club is going, give us a few more years, and we will be a common name in the diesel community. Our events will be a destination for people from the lower 48 to see.
